Quintin is Home! And this video proves it.

Dear Friend,

Providing sanctuary for chimpanzees is so humbling.

I like to look for signs that a resident feels home.  Sometimes, you can tell they feel at home when they are comfortable enough to tell you what they really think of that raw eggplant (by banging at us) or when you see them doing something “species typical,” like grooming with their friends.

For Quintin, a big goof of a chimp who arrived at Project Chimps just a month ago, I think his sign is simple.  Sleep.  This sweet video of him sleeping says it all.  Look at how peaceful he is.  He’s home.  It fills me with pride to give Quintin the gift of being at peace, at ease, and at home.

Supporters like you helped us create home for Quintin and 15 other chimps this year.  They know they are home, and it’s where they belong.

We are grateful to have been so successful in our work so far, BUT there is still so much “home” to accomplish!  There are 204 chimpanzees left at the New Iberia Research Center awaiting their Road to Retirement trip home.  We want them to experience all the joys and choices a chimp should experience, but we need YOUR continued support to help get them there.  It’s their time to live.

You can help us get there!  From symbolically adopting a chimp for yourself of a loved one, to donating to the ever-important Road to Retirement Fund – there are so many ways you can make a difference in the life of a chimp.

Thank you for your continued support of Project Chimps, and we hope we can count on you for a year-end gift!

In gratitude,

Sarah Baeckler Davis

P.P.S.  Do you have an IRA and are over the age of 70 1/2?  A lot of people don’t know about the IRA Charitable Rollover – this is a gift you can make directly to Project Chimps from your IRA that can offset some of your required minimum distribution.  The IRA Charitable Rollover was passed by Congress and signed into permanent law by the President, allowing taxpayers aged 70 1/2 or older to transfer up to $100,000 annually from their IRA accounts directly to charity without first having to recognize the distribution as income.  Check with your financial advisor or the administrator of your IRA for more information.  Project Chimps’ Federal Tax ID is 47-1439557.
