How to visit Project Chimps

Volunteer-Appreciation-Luncheon-2025-tour

By Ari D’Arconte

If you have heard of the great work being done here at Project Chimps and would like to see the chimps in person, then you have come to the right place! We offer a number of tours and experiences for you to choose from.

Project Chimps is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia, with beautiful scenery throughout the year. Tourists visit our local town to experience the fall colors, hike the various waterfalls, pick apples…and to meet the chimps!

Visit Project Chimps with a Supporter Tour

You can book a private tour for 1-20 guests, nearly any day of the year with our Supporter Tour option. This is a 60-90 minute tour around the facilities guided by a volunteer who will tell you all about the work that we do here and introduce you the chimps.

While you cannot enter the villas for safety reasons, the tour takes you outside of all of the villas to a number of viewing windows where you have the chance to see the chimps. The chimps have the opportunity to explore the open outdoor areas and approach the viewing windows if they want to meet you! It is an amazing opportunity to learn about and support the work that we do here at Project Chimps.

Supporter Tours start at $500 for your whole group…but wait, you can upgrade your tour!

Launch Lunch Upgrade

For an additional $250 your group can participate in the Launch Lunch! This one of a kind experience allows you to help feed the chimps by serving them their veggies directly to them in their habitat. How might you do this you ask? With slingshots! By distributing their lunch with the sling shot, the chimps are encouraged to forage for their meal, much like they would do in the wild.

While seeing the chimps is not guaranteed (because it’s always chimp-choice to approach visitors) the Launch Lunch provides the best opportunity to see the chimps up close when you visit Project Chimps.

Other Visiting Opportunities

In addition to the options listed above we have a few other ways that you can visit our facilities. We offer a tour similar to the supporter tour through Airbnb, which is priced at $100 per adult and $75 per child. We also host community events throughout the year, such as Chimp or Treat in October and Discovery Days in May.

These are the most affordable ways to visit Project Chimps and are a great experience for everyone involved! Finally, we offer curricula-based field trips and youth group tours to educate the new generations on the work that we do here, many of which we offer for free!

You can find more information and sign up email alerts for any of these opportunities here.
