Scout Programs

Project Chimps offers a chance for Scout Troops to earn badges while learning about chimpanzees, their habitats, nutrition, agriculture, and more.

Troop service projects can be arranged for 4-7 hours in duration which will include a tour as part of the agenda.

Group Size

  • Groups can be between 5 and 30 scouts.

Fees

  • Free with a minimum commitment of 3 service hours (plus a one hour tour).
  • One chaperone per 5 scouts is admitted free. Additional chaperones (or non-scout guests) pay the standard entry price of $35.

Badge Workshops

Take part in 2-hour programs where scouts can earn achievements, electives, and badges which adhere to official BSA badge requirements. Each program will involve the scouts in hands-on activities in the outdoors and will include a tour of the chimp’s habitat.

Our programs strictly adhere to the badge guidelines as outlined in the official scout handbooks. Our program volunteers will attempt to complete as many requirements as possible for each badge. In some cases, your group’s punctuality and cooperation may dictate how many of the requirements will need to be completed at home.

The scouts are not guaranteed to earn the badge by attendance alone, but only if they successfully complete the requirements.

Won't You Help?

This project would not be possible without our many generous individual supporters and volunteers. We rely on donations to fulfill our mission, including caring for our existing residents and expanding the sanctuary to accommodate those chimpanzees still waiting in the lab.

Won’t you help us bring the remaining chimps to sanctuary by supporting Project Chimps today? Please donate today because...
