Celebrating KEITH’s 21st birthday!
October 3rd is a busy day in Laurie and Carlee McGrath Chateau because three chimps all share the same birthday — right down to the year! In this blog, we’re following up on Kevin’s birthday blog and spotlighting his fraternal twin, Keith!
Keith has traditionally been less dominant than his twin brother Kevin. While this is still true, his caregivers report he’s definitely been getting more involved in group dynamics recently! He’s less chaotic than his brother, but according to his caregivers, Keith still has his moments.
When he’s “pilo” (piloerect) he looks huge! He has an underbite and is known for his prominent brow ridge that can make him look a bit angry, but don’t let that fool you. Both he and Kevin are very sweet and playful with humans and chimps alike!
Keith is almost always close by Kevin, but recently he’s gotten closer to Prince and Paul as well. Both Keith and his brother seem to prefer the hoppers and water lixits on the porch to the ones inside. At dinner, they’ll find their caregivers inside and then head out to the porch to take their food. Both also enjoy behavior training!
Keith is a true film buff — he LOVES movies! He sits and watches the TV intently when caregivers put something on for the chimps. He especially seems to like when there’s other chimps on screen. Recently they watched the entire season of Meet the Chimps, and he loved it.
