Celebrating SCOTT’s 21st birthday!
It’s another birthday at Project Chimps, and today we’re celebrating Scott as he turns 21 years old!
Scott (affectionately nicknamed “Scooter”) arrived at Project Chimps in June of 2022, making this just his third birthday at the sanctuary. He looks very similar to fraternal twins Keith and Kevin, so much so that caregivers sometimes call them “the triplets!” Although he was born just 16 days after the twins, Scott isn’t actually related to Keith or Kevin. Even so, all three chimps seem to get along with each other quite well!
Scott is a big fan of the three P’s… peanuts, playtime, and puzzles. While juice has historically been a hit or a miss, lately he’s been asking for juice more often. He’s also always eager for mealtime!
During breakfast, Scott sits up on a platform and waits to make eye contact before nodding once and making his way to the food hopper. According to his caregivers, Scott prefers to take his food from just two hoppers out of the seven. The one on the porch is for dinnertime only while the hopper in cubby three is only for breakfast. They say these are his rules, not theirs!
Scott has a habit of sucking his thumb and has been very playful with caregivers and during introductions. His caregivers say that when they have something he wants, Scott will come eagerly over to the mesh and make intense eye contact and even spit at them!
