Celebrating AMY’s 16th birthday!
Look out, world! November 20th might not be a national holiday, but we think it probably should be. Today, we’re marking the occasion by sharing this blog in celebration of Amy’s sweet 16th birthday!
Amy arrived at Project Chimps in December of 2017, less than a month after her 9th birthday. She lives in alpha Kareem’s group in Harmony villa alongside her best friends Sarah and Loretta. Among their caregivers, these three are well known for their signature chimp train! They hug and sit directly behind each other to form a “train” that rocks back and forth in perfect unison. Amy is always the caboose, placing herself directly behind Loretta.
Although Amy is the smallest chimp in her group, she seems to think she’s the largest. She can be something of an instigator and loves to rile others up to play with her. Recently, she’s grown in confidence and has started taking (and keeping) food at mealtimes even with higher ranking chimps nearby. She’s the slowest eater of the bunch, often taking three times as long to eat bananas than the other chimps. She savors every bite!
Amy is a very playful and energetic chimp who’s always excited to take part in a new game. She loves stuffed animal “babies,” but she also really loves packaging Kraft paper. She loves to nest and roll around with it and is quite accomplished at making spit bubbles. She’s also been known to spit water and try and poke the camera when anyone tries to take her picture!
Today on November 20th, we hope you’ll help wish Amy a happy 16th birthday! If you’d like to send her a gift, please consider some packaging paper from our Amazon Wishlist. Whether you send a gift or make a donation in her honor, thank you so much for supporting her care!
Amy is also one of the featured chimps you can sponsor monthly or annually here at Project Chimps! By becoming a sponsor, you can support her continued care and hear all about her recent adventures in sanctuary.
Happy 16th birthday, Amy! We’re so excited to see you continue to grow and play at Project Chimps!
