Celebrating SARAH’s 16th birthday!
November is always a busy month for birthdays at Project Chimps, but that’s especially true in Harmony villa! Last week, we celebrated Amy’s 16th birthday on November 20th. Today, we’re back to celebrate the birthday of one of her best friends — Sarah!
Seeing as Sarah and Amy were born just 4 days apart, it’s no big surprise they get along so well! They’re also close with fellow 16-year-old Loretta. Together, they make up a dream-team girl squad right here in Harmony villa, running around and causing mischief!
Sarah loves most stuffed animals, but her favorites are any primate stuffed animal. She loves to carry these around on her back or hang onto them with her foot. She also really loves wood wool, a type of material the chimps use for nesting! When the chimps shift to a new room for cleaning, Sarah likes to carry her stuffed animal or wood wool with her through the door.
Sarah is also known for her “zoomies!” When she gets these sudden bursts of energy, she, Loretta and Amy run around playfully with each other. Often, this happens when caregivers reopen a room after they’ve finished cleaning. Sarah gets ready for the door to open, and off she zooms into her freshly cleaned room.
Sarah used to be a bit overly dependent on Loretta and Amy, but with time this has started to change. She’s started to become more independent and confident, taking her food near higher ranking chimps more often! Her caregivers say it’s awesome to watch her growth within herself and her group.
