Kassie

Kassie is a mid-ranking chimp in her social group. She occupies a unique spot as lower ranking among the older females and higher ranking than many of the younger ones. According to her caregivers, she can be very vocal and is “large and in charge.” She is the biggest female in her group and sometimes uses her size to intimidate the little girls. However, since being introduced to a group of males, Kassie has been more active and become very playful, especially with the younger females and the high-ranking males.  

Lately, Kassie has been very interested in Rusty and has been choosing to seek him out for some attention. She is incredibly food motivated, and her whole chimp family knows it! She is still succeeding in avoiding her diet, and even though her caregivers have reduced the food that they give her, she is finding ways to supplement by asking others (especially Alpha Kirk) to share food. 

She loves to bathe in the sun and relax on her back when the weather is nice. Her favorite position to rest in closely resembles the “happy baby” yoga pose!
