A Bus Like No Other

Looking for a fresh and unforgettable way to experience wildlife? Project Chimps has just the thing for you—the brand-new Banana Bus! Georgia residents may have seen this one-of-a-kind bus driving through their city. It features vibrant images of bright yellow bananas and a large chimpanzee photo. You and your friends now have the opportunity to hop on for a special bus tour of the sanctuary nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s not just a bus—it’s your ticket to meet some of the most intelligent and curious animals on the planet.

Up Close with Chimps—No Missed Moments

We’ve all been there: stuck at the back of a walking tour, straining to hear the guide and missing out on the good stuff. When that happens, it’s often difficult to hear your tour guide, and you miss out on all the interesting details about what you’re seeing. That’s why the Banana Bus is a game-changer. Your knowledgeable tour guide will be equipped with a microphone that broadcasts throughout the bus, allowing everyone to hear clearly.

Whether you’re a lifelong animal lover or just curious about chimp behavior, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of these incredible creatures—without the frustration of missing a word.

A One-of-a-Kind Sanctuary Tour

The Banana Bus will take you on a two-hour round-trip tour of the sanctuary. The curious chimps are particularly interested in this new bus and often come to inspect it. Gabby Dunbar with the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce, one of the first passengers to experience this bus tour, shared her excitement of seeing 4 to 6 chimps at a time. She said the curious chimps excitedly peeked into the windows to see what was happening inside. During the tour, the bus drives through the facility, passing by various enclosures and the education center where chimp enrichments are made. The tour loops back along the same route, giving you a second chance to catch anything you missed!

Why You Should Ride the Banana Bus

This isn’t just a tour—it’s a behind-the-scenes look at the compassionate work being done to care for retired research chimpanzees. You’ll witness firsthand how Project Chimps provides a safe, enriching environment for these animals to thrive.

Whether you’re planning a family outing, a small field trip, or just a weekend adventure, the Banana Bus is a must-do experience that combines education, conservation, and a whole lot of fun.
