Celebrating BO’s 20th birthday!

Today, on August 25th, we’re celebrating another milestone birthday as alpha Bo turns 20 years old!

Bo is the alpha of Cedar Tree Villa. Although he may be young, he shouldn’t be underestimated! He’s a fair, strong and even-tempered leader who has made so much progress as the alpha over his time in sanctuary. His presence alone was enough to calm down a fight between the females recently and the other males have really pushed him to become a better leader. He gets along well with everyone in his group and they all seem to trust him in return.

But while Bo may have grown as the alpha, he’s still the same chimp at heart. A true foodie, Bo will eat almost anything the caregivers serve him and is always first at the hopper. He especially loves his chow, so much so that he starts food squeaking loudly as soon as he sees caregivers holding it!

His favorite spot in the villa is right next to the water lixit in the left bedroom. He prefers this spot because — you guessed it — it’s close to the food hopper! This way, he’s always ready to be one of the first chimps to get his food. Sometimes caregivers will attach a fidget spinner enrichment next to this spot and he gets excited.

Bo has really been enjoying the new Annex expansion, especially the extra space in the portal. While he spends a lot of time there, he always comes back in when he knows it’s time for food! Other than chimp chow, he also loves walnuts and grape juice. He’s known for his enthusiastic, high-pitched food squeaks, which he continues to make throughout his whole meal!
