Celebrating KYRSTIN’s 14th birthday!
As full siblings, chimps Kyrstin and Leo have a lot in common. Not only do they have the same parents and similar physical characteristics, but they share their birthday month, too! Kyrstin and Leo’s birthdays take place only one day apart. Today on August 30th, we’re thrilled to kick off the siblings’ two-day birthday bash by celebrating Kyrstin’s 14th birthday!
Kyrstin arrived at Project Chimps in 2019, making this her 4th birthday at the sanctuary. She lives in Chimps Ahoy villa, where she can be quite the little firecracker! As a youngster with ties to almost every one of her groupmates, she’s often considered the darling of the group. She’s extremely playful and a loyal friend, defending and offering reassurance to everyone after any conflicts within her group. With her endearing head nods and amusing antics, she can also capture the hearts of humans she meets with ease!
Kyrstin’s best friend is Roxy, who can sometimes be a bit mischievous and attempt to steal Kyrstin’s food for herself. However, with time Kyrstin has learned ways she can create distance between the would-be-thief and whatever treat she’s carrying. Other than Roxy, Kyrstin also gets along well with Moonie, Kirk, and the other young females in her group. Together, she, Roxy, Mandy, and Arielle make up quite the impressive group!
She tends to enjoy learning and participating in body presentation training with caregivers, especially because of the rewards! Some of her favorites are dates and figs. She’s also a big fan of soft fleece blankets that keep her cozy in the Georgia mountains.
Kyrstin loves exploring the outdoor habitat, which she’s been able to do even more frequently now thanks to the generous donations from the Project Chimps community! Now that the Annex is open, Kyrstin has been able to go out into North Peachtree habitat every other day. Since then, she’s been staying out longer and is often even the last to come inside!
