Celebrating LANCELOT’s 20th birthday!
He may be small in stature but he’s also a chimp who has a huge heart! Today is Lancelot’s 20th birthday and we’re so excited to celebrate this special day at Project Chimps!
Lancelot arrived at Project Chimps in 2022 and lives in Laurie & Carlee McGrath Chateau B. He’s full siblings with Panielle, another chimp living at the sanctuary. As a lower-ranking chimp, he’s normally the last chimp in his group to take his chow and eats slow. Even though he may not be toward the top of the hierarchy, he seems to enjoy his meals just the same. Despite being the smallest chimp in the group, Lancelot is best friends with Thomas, the largest in his group. Together, they’re unstoppable!
Lancelot loves venturing outside and exploring Peachtree habitat. He’s a skilled climber and recently caregivers have spotted him napping in hanging half barrels inside the villa. He’s a “chimps’ chimp” through and through, meaning he prefers interacting with his fellow chimpanzees rather than with human caregivers. He especially enjoys spending time with his groupmates Dawn and Thomas.
Lancelot’s favorite enrichment items are Kongs, which are very durable. He’s not just about fun and games as he has a sophisticated palate too! Lancelot loves peanut butter and plums but he especially loves his juice. Each morning, caregivers serve all the chimps’ juice before giving them their breakfast. Lancelot loves juice so much that he refuses to take his chow without it! It’s safe to say he knows how to enjoy the finer things in life.
