Adam

Adam Headshot

Adam was part of the most recent chimp transport to Project Chimps from the New Iberia Research Center in Louisiana! He made the journey to sanctuary alongside five other male chimpanzees, who will be gradually introduced to Kirk’s group in Chimps Ahoy villa.

Adam is a cautious kind of chimp who takes his time investigating new situations. So far, he’s been trying to work up the nerve to go into the outdoor habitat by moving closer to the door in the tunnel and then backing up. His caregivers think he will work up to it soon, especially if his buddy Bozo goes with him.

Adam wasn’t sure about Luke’s energy at first, but eventually accepted his different way of communicating. However, he and Kirk did very well together! They both enjoyed the juice wells together and did some grooming, especially after Roy showed Adam that Kirk was okay by grooming him through the mesh. On another day when Rocko was challenging Kirk, Adam backed Kirk up, showing Kirk has earned his trust.

This project would not be possible without our many generous individual supporters and volunteers. We rely on donations to fulfill our mission, including caring for our existing residents and expanding the sanctuary to accommodate those chimpanzees still waiting in the lab.
