Binah

Binah July 2021

Affectionately referred to as “Beans” by Care Staff, Binah has been the acting alpha of Chateau A for some time now. He may be young, but that hasn’t stopped Binah from stepping up to the plate and giving it his all!

Binah has always been a high-ranking member of his group, maintaining his status mainly through a combination of his impressive strength and intimidation. By favoring a more authoritative leadership style, he was able to hold his own as alpha and keep the rowdier members of his group in line.

But as Binah has continued to grow and mature, he seems to have learned there’s more to being a great leader than strength alone. He’s made great strides building positive relationships through play and grooming and has been practicing more measured responses when intervening in group conflicts. He’s also been known to help the female chimps in his group shift into different rooms when they need extra reassurance and has made so much progress overall. While some days he’s better at it than others, there’s a special sense of joy and pride seeing him grow into the kind of leader only he can be.
