Emma is regarded as one of the smartest chimps in the sanctuary. She is eager for new challenges and is always one of the first ones to figure out a new puzzle. When not figuring out puzzles, she is typically seen walking around with a blanket so she can take full advantage of a good spot for a nap at any moment. Emma can be sneaky and playful, a combination that keeps her caregivers on their toes!
Emma loves oranges, and has invented a new way of eating them. She bites a small hole in the rind and proceeds to hollow out the entire orange with her finger. When cleaning her group’s living areas, care staff will think they have found an untouched orange only to discover a husk that has been picked clean. Leave it to such a smart chimp like Emma to innovate new fun ways to do simple tasks!
