Jurita

Despite being the oldest female chimp in her group, Jurita still works to maintain harmony within Dorothy Jo & Tilly Villa. She can still be seen playing with the younger females in her group, as well as intervening when things get a bit too rowdy.

She keeps close friendships with all the males, but isn’t afraid to stand up to them if she feels they are being unfair to the younger females. She’s also the only chimp in her group to take prunes and is very recognizable or having less hair around her face and a billy-goat goatee. Some caregivers have even described her as “gargoyle-ish!”

Jurita and her best friend Jamie had a short falling out a little while ago, but they have since made up and are back to grooming and sitting together. She looks forward to getting her medication and supplements that help her continue to be the alpha female because she gets to enjoy it in a peanut butter and honey cup!
