Kate

Kate is the oldest female chimp at the sanctuary and lives in Prince’s group in the Laurie and Carlee McGrath Chateau. She’s the biological mother of LB, another Project Chimps resident, and is one of the lower-ranking female chimps in her group. 

Caregivers describe Kate as a sweet older lady who has a very distinct smile! She has good relationships with the other members of her family and tends to announce herself when entering a room with deep, loud hoots. Some caregivers have also given her the nickname “Kathleen!” 

Kate loves to stay hydrated, but her drink of choice is probably juice. She’s also an excellent nest builder and incorporates all kinds of different items in her constructions. Kathleen likes onions, sweet potatoes, and any type of fruit.
