Learn about Zack

One of the most easily identifiable chimps in residence, Zack is without his left eye, but that certainly hasn’t stopped him from living his best life in sanctuary! You might be able to spot him outside in the habitat by watching out for his distinct head bobble when walking.

A big personality within Prince’s group in Chateau B, Zack loves to make some noise! His caregivers say that if you give him a box or a firehose knot, you’ll be hearing him from across the room. He’s also adored by his caregivers, garnering plenty of “oohs” and “awws” while he sits at the hopper waiting for breakfast.

He loves being in the habitat and typically carries toys or sticks with him so when that temptation to display hits, he’s got props at the ready. His displays mostly involve fancy footwork, but he also enjoys running bipedally past his groupmates while holding the aforementioned props.

This project would not be possible without our many generous individual supporters and volunteers. We rely on donations to fulfill our mission, including caring for our existing residents and expanding the sanctuary to accommodate those chimpanzees still waiting in the lab.
