Ride the Banana Bus!

This experience will last 3-4 hours, including door-to-door transport. Pick-up times are recommended between 10:00am and 10:30am.

Your tour guide and driver will explain the history of Project Chimps on the way to the sanctuary and take you on a tour around the habitat where you will be invited to offload at The Nest for prime chimp viewing.

After the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit our gift shop where you will also receive your very own banana to snack on!

The Banana Bus can accommodate groups up to 10 and is wheelchair accessible with a built-in lift for up to 2 chairs.

At this time, we can only provide door-to-door service at the following locations/types:

• Hotels, RV camp grounds, resorts, and state parks in Fannin, Union or Gilmer Counties of Georgia.
• Additionally, we can arrange to meet a group at any South State Bank or Chamber’s Visitor Center within those three counties where your personal cars may be parked for the duration of the tour at no cost.
• Additional locations may be an option but will need to be discussed before booking to ensure the bus can safely traverse the route (many rural roads, unpaved community roads or steep incline routes will not be able to be serviced. We may be able to work out an agreeable location to meet your party at for the pickup.)
• You can also come to the sanctuary directly and ride the bus from our own parking lot and, therefore, enjoy the hiking trails before or after your tour at your own pace!

The banana bus is routinely available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. If you need to book your Banana Bus Tour on a different day, please reach out to the Event Coordinator at events@projectchimps.org. We will do our best to work with you and your group.

$1,000 for a private tour

Price includes pickup at hotels, resorts and some campgrounds in Fannin and Union Counties. Please note that further distances may incur additional costs.

NOTE: There is a $100 non-refundable deposit due at time of booking.

Cancellations made 7 days before the scheduled visit will receive a full refund (minus the $100 non-refundable deposit).

Rescheduling of an existing reservation must be made at least 14 days before your scheduled visit due to logistics.

All tours are conducted rain or shine. For instances of severe inclement weather where Project Chimps must close or travel advisories are in effect, a full refund will be issued and/or the visit rescheduled.
