Walk Like a Chimp
"Walk like a Chimp” is an annual virtual event that everyone can participate in to help us succeed in our goal of raising enough money to bring all of the New Iberia chimps here to their forever home!
The journey from the research lab in Louisiana to their forever home here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia is 694 miles.
You can make the virtual journey with the chimps by walking, jogging, running, swimming or biking towards the overall team goal of 6,940 miles (694 for each of the 10 chimps our transport trailer can carry) or approximately 130,000 steps in one month.
With a goal of 100 participants, your individual distance goal will be 69 miles over the course of the 30 day challenge.

Registration opens June 1st and the virtual race begins June 15. Complete your steps and raise money any time, on any day by July 14 - World Chimpanzee Day!
Each participant that fundraises the following amounts will win these prizes:
$100- Project Chimps Air Freshener
$250- Key Chain
$500- Canvas Tote Bag
$750- 2022 Chimp Ornament
$1,000+- $50 gift certificate to our store!
Registration is $30.
The first 100 registrants will receive a Walk Like a Chimp bumper sticker!
This virtual event uses the Charity Footprints app.
Connect your Fitbit, iPhone Health app, Google Fit, Garmin, Misfit or Strava fitness tracker to the challenge, and every step you take will count towards your personal goal. Don’t worry if you don’t have those devices, you can enter your daily miles manually as well.
Invite your friends to take the challenge with you and form a team or to support you as backers so you can raise even more money for the chimps! There will be additional prizes for both the participant who raises the most money and who completes the furthest distance.
