Project Chimps is working towards our ultimate goal of retiring ALL of the chimpanzees living at the New Iberia Research Center to sanctuary. Our immediate focus is to raise needed general operating funds and greater capital campaign support to build out the infrastructure needed to accelerate the transport of the remaining chimpanzees to Project Chimps. These chimps do not receive any NIH government funding and to move them to sanctuary, private funding is the only support.

How you can help
You make this work possible. We invite you to take on a leadership role in helping to sustain our most important projects in creating a future for these chimpanzees to experience lifelong exemplary care! Ongoing Operational Support
It costs approximately $30,000 per year to provide food, housing, medical care and enrichment activities for a former research chimpanzee in sanctuary. Your generous donation toward our operating fund will provide care for these deserving individuals.
Funding at the Chimp Champ level or higher comes with some or all of the following opportunities:
- Private VIP Elite tour annually for you and three guests during Discovery Days weekend or another agreed to date.
- Private updates on the progress of the sanctuary and arrival of new chimps.
- Selection of a chimp annually from available monthly list
- Project Chimps annual calendar
- Other private and exciting opportunities
