August is National Make-a-Will Month, a perfect time to reflect on how you can make a lasting impact on causes close to your heart. At Project Chimps, the Legacy Society is made up of generous and forward-thinking individuals who’ve included the sanctuary in their estate plans. This ensures that we can continue to provide exemplary care for the chimpanzees who call it home.

The Legacy Society: Securing the Future

The Legacy Society is a dedicated group of supporters committed to the long-term well-being of the sanctuary. By including us in their estate plans, they help us address immediate needs and future goals, ensuring the sanctuary will thrive for decades.

Spotlight on Debra Betz: A Remarkable Legacy

One of our dedicated volunteers, Debra Betz, is leaving a unique and generous legacy. Debra, who has been a part of Project Chimps for two years, has chosen to leave her cabin to the sanctuary in her will. For Debra, Project Chimps represents more than just a place—it’s a source of joy and purpose.

Debra’s deep connection to the sanctuary is evident in her words. When Debra first arrived at Project Chimps, she sensed the sanctuary would have a profound impact on her: “I felt that somehow this majestic place would be life-changing for me… I’m now able to see how hardworking and dedicated the caretakers are to making sure each chimp is living their best life. Watching the chimps having fun, getting comforted by their best friend, and making happy pant hoots are all reasons the chimps stole my heart.”

Debra’s story highlights how the sanctuary not only provides care for these incredible animals but also touches the lives of those who support it: “I might be giving them resources to help them live their best lives, but they have given me much more… purpose, direction, and nourishment for my soul.” Her decision to leave her cabin to Project Chimps ensures that her commitment to the chimps will continue to make a difference far beyond her lifetime.

Why Your Support Matters

The chimpanzees at the sanctuary, some as young as 13, may live well into their 50s—potentially remaining here until the year 2070. While meeting our immediate financial needs is always important, planning for the long term is, too. Estate gifts like Debra’s help ensure the sanctuary remains a haven for these remarkable animals for generations to come.

By planning for the future, you’re supporting the sanctuary and becoming part of something much larger. Your legacy gift can help us continue to offer the best care possible, ensuring the chimps live their lives in comfort and security.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We invite you to leave a lasting mark by making a gift to Project Chimps in your estate plans. Your contribution can help us provide lifelong care for the chimps and support our mission for years to come. If you have any questions or need assistance with wording for your will, please reach out to us. We’d be happy to provide guidance and support.

Let’s work together to ensure that Project Chimps continues to be a place of love, care, and hope for the chimpanzees who live there. Find out more here.
