In the past year, Tristen and the other younger females in her group have started to better carve out their social roles. Tristen has always been lower ranking and avoids conflict with plenty of friendly interactions.
Typically, she can be seen hanging around her best friend Haylee and the other younger girls. But recently, she has been interacting more with the males in her group, and they seem to really like having her around. Her tightening bonds with the males have likely been helpful to her confidence, as she has been less hesitant to come get her food during meal times, especially when it comes to some of her favorite foods like bananas!
Tristen is very well known for having the loudest raspberry noises at the sanctuary, which she uses while grooming other chimps or when demanding additional treats.
