Charisse

As one of the very first chimps to arrive at the sanctuary back in 2016, Charisse and her twin sister Buttercup have seen a lot of changes at the sanctuary! Ever since the Cedar Tree Annex habitat and connecting Skybridge were constructed in 2024, it’s become the twins’ new hit spot.

Charisse has been in love with seeing all the action from the Skybridge. Most days, when she sees someone passing by she’ll immediately poke her head out and make her way to the bridge to watch, often bringing part of her lunch to snack on while she does so! She also loves it when one of her caregivers walks along the length of the bridge so she can race them to the end (she always wins).

Charisse is higher ranking and a little bolder than her sister, as well as “a little more tubby.” She has zero hesitations about squeezing her way into any given training session, and is a true training star! When Care Staff create new puzzles for the chimps to solve, Charisse is normally the one to stick with it until she figures out the solution. She also loves to play chase!
