Celebrate BUTTERCUP’s 19th birthday!
In the heart of the Cedar Tree Villa, a pair of identical twins captures the attention and curiosity of all who encounter them. Buttercup, one-half of this dynamic duo, distinguishes herself with a unique freckle on her right cheek. Alongside her sister Charisse, Buttercup showcases not only her individuality but also her playful and independent nature. Join us as we explore the world of Buttercup and discover what makes her such a captivating and spirited chimp.
Buttercup’s “beauty mark” on her right cheek allows caregivers and sponsors to easily differentiate between the two sisters. It becomes a small but significant detail that adds to the charm and individuality of Buttercup.
While the twins have grown more independent, they still share a strong bond and prefer to remain within close ear-shot to one another. This connection serves as a source of comfort and support as they navigate their surroundings. Vocalizing at each other brings a sense of security and familiarity, allowing them to explore their individuality while knowing they have a constant companion by their side.
As one of the lowest-ranking females in Cedar Tree, Buttercup has faced her fair share of challenges, particularly when it comes to food. To protect her meals from being stolen, she prefers to receive her fruits and vegetables one at a time. However, caregivers have noticed significant improvement in Buttercup’s behavior, as she becomes more adept at taking her food items and safeguarding them. This growth highlights her resilience and determination to adapt to her environment.
Buttercup’s current obsession with blankets has prompted caregivers to replace them with alternative items such as hay, straw, cardboard boxes and paper to prevent her from eating them. While the reintroduction of blankets is under evaluation, Buttercup has found solace in her favorite toy, the squeaky gecko. She displays her dexterity and playfulness by lying on her back and using her hands to throw the gecko up, skillfully catching it with her feet. This playful behavior showcases her ability to find joy in simple pleasures.
Today, February 24, we hope you’ll join us in wishing Buttercup a very happy 19th birthday! If you’d care to send her a birthday present, you can find the squeaky gecko on our Amazon Wish List.
