Chimp Chatter Featuring Kareem
The Work/Play Balance of a Chimp Monarch
It’s no secret that Kareem is a talented leader of his group of 14 chimpanzees, any of his caregivers can testify to that.
Moving Day: A New Chateau for Research Chimps
We recently finished the construction of The Chateau and invited the chimps to move in. We all held our breath to see what they would think of their new digs…
Chimps Living in Harmony
Project Chimps’ facilities team, care staff, and dedicated volunteers have been working tirelessly to make the south yard of the outdoor habitat a fun and enriching place for the former research chimpanzees in our care. Their hard work was worth it – the chimps are thriving outdoors. And they’re having a blast!
One Chimp’s Journey to Sanctuary – part three
Remarkably, because of the special soul that he is, Kareem was somehow able to survive, despite the horrible conditions and unforgivable neglect to which he was subjected at Coulston Foundation. But his journey in research was not over.
One Chimp’s Journey to Sanctuary – part two
Kareem’s story starts with the heart-wrenching fact that, like many chimpanzees who were born in research facilities, he was pulled from his mother at just a few days old. It’s difficult to think about the devastation that Kareem’s mother must have endured when her baby was pulled from her loving arms. Caregivers swaddled him in diapers and placed him in the lab’s chimpanzee nursery.

MAKES A DIFFERENCE
This project would not be possible without our many generous individual supporters and volunteers. We rely on donations to fulfill our mission, including caring for our existing residents and expanding the sanctuary to accommodate those chimpanzees still waiting in the lab.
