Who's Who in Chateau Group 1?
About This Group
The Laurie and Carlee McGrath Chateau is the largest building at the sanctuary and houses two distinct groups! Chateau Group 1 is known for being one of the more rambunctious groups at the sanctuary due to a higher number of young male chimpanzees. However, in recent years the group has begun to calm down as these chimps continue to mature and settle into their roles. It has the reputation of being a little chaotic and challenging, but also a lot of fun!

Chimp Chatter About This Group:
-
There’s no denying that chimps love to eat! Here at Project Chimps, their diet consists of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. In addition to daily breakfast and dinner services where each chimp gets a full meal, caretakers also scatter different food items like cabbage, nuts, seeds, carrots and tomatoes over their enclosures for lunch and dinner enrichment. This allows the chimps to engage in one of their natural behaviors — foraging.
